The Workshop is invitation-only and is targeted at government officials in the ATO and Treasury, with the goal of demonstrating both the interest and value of empirical research in the tax and transfer system, and the way in which researchers from other countries are working with government agencies to obtain access to administrative data, including tax records and social security data.

Attendees will include officials from ABS and other government departments, as well as people from overseas. We will have presentations by researchers working with administrative data from New Zealand, the UK and Denmark all of whom are ahead of Australia on the ‘access to data’ front.
