Lunchbox debate: a resilient tax system for the future

How can Australia maintain and strengthen a resilient tax system that can navigate a course through the choppy seas of politics, taxpayer acceptance and economic good sense? And what would a resilient tax system look like?

In this special lunchbox debate – one of the key events of ANU Policy Outlook 2014 – the Commissioner of Taxation, Chris Jordan AO together with expert panellists including Professor Kerrie Sadiq of QUT Business School and Mr Richard Dennis, Executive Director of the Australia Institute, will look at the challenges facing our tax system from administrative, taxpayer, practitioner, economic and political perspectives. The event will be chaired by Professor Miranda Stewart, Director of the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute at Crawford School of Public Policy. The panel will debate the impact of technological, global and economic changes on Australia’s tax system and how reforms to address these challenges might be received by taxpayers.

Policy Outlook 2014 is one of the events of ANU Public Policy Week. Policy Outlook comprises of a series of invite-only workshops plus four high-profile public events, all built around the theme of resilience.

A very special Policy Outlook lunchbox will be provided to attendees. Places are strictly limited. The debate will be live streamed.
