The Tax and Transfer Policy Institute will host a panel and roundtable discussion with Professor Daniel Beland from Canada. He will join Director and Professor Miranda Stewart, Professor Peter Whiteford, Professor Adrian Kay and Dr Tracy Beck Fenwick with expertise on health and welfare financing and delivery in a federal context, drawing on historical and comparative experience where relevant for Australia’s contemporary context.

Daniel Béland is Canada Research Chair in Public Policy and Professor at the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School in Public Policy, a joint venture between the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan. Holding a PhD in Political Sociology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris), he has written widely on issues of social welfare, federations and health policy. Daniel has been a visiting scholar at Harvard University and The University of Chicago, a visiting professor at the University of Helsinki and the University of Southern Denmark, and a Fulbright Scholar at The George Washington University and the National Academy of Social Insurance.
